Health Technology Africa Exhibition 2010 -
the technology event for professionals in the health industry.
According to the 2008 report by the World Health Organisation, health technologies can be defined as: "the application
of organised knowledge and skills in the form of devices, medicines, vaccines, procedures and systems developed to solve
a health problem and improve quality of lives".

Others have defined health technology as a wide range of procedures, devices and equipment applied to the maintenance,
restoration and advancement of health.
Health technologies are developed to solve health problems and improve quality of lives. Health technologies have over
the years become a very important element of health systems in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of
diseases.
Medical technology covers an extensive collection of methods intervening to promote health including the prevention,
diagnosing or treatment of diseases, the rehabilitation of long term care of patients as well as drugs, devices,
clinical procedures and healthcare settings.
Today's healthcare organisations face a variety of technologyrelated issues. The emergence of technology has the
potential to improve and advance many aspects of the work of healthcare workers. Moreover, It gives doctors and medical
personnel the opportunity to use the best medicine and equipment necessary to perform their duties. Healthcare systems
are thus turning to technology and digital solutions to treat diseases and other medical problems.
The Healthcare Technology Africa Exhibition scheduled to take place on 18, 19 and 20 February 2010 at Sandton Convention
Centre, Sandton, South Africa. The event promises to exceed expectations in offering unique level of knowledge sharing in
healthcare technology industry.
It is important to grow our knowledge of technology particularly in the healthcare setting. We invite exhibitors and
potential visitors to join their colleagues across the health spectrum to network and explore new technologies being
implemented across the health sector.
