ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT POLICY

We have adopted a strict empowerment policy criteria at TCI, which aims to enhance the plight of those from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.

Our empowerment policy stipulates that 75% of our staff compliment must consist of Historically Disadvantaged Individuals (HDI).

Over 90% of our staff consist of HDI individuals and 93% is Blacks, Coloureds and Asians.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT POLICY

TCI is committed to the improvement and advancement of the eminence of the products we offer and the service we provide to our clients. We are registered member of Services SETA and we also support the skills development policy they have instituted. TCI is a member of Southern African Association for the Conferencing Industry (SAACI) which is dedicated to maintaining and improving the standards of efficiency and professionalism for the conference industry in Southern Africa.

We are also committed to constant skills development for our employees by organising for them to attend relevant training courses conducted by acknowledgeable expert in their given fields i.e. marketing, sales or even management.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY POLICY

As part of our efforts to giving back to the community and the industries we deal in, TCI has undertaken the following stance towards our social responsibility.
  • We offer subsidised delegate fees to those individuals that want to attend our events but find it difficult from a fiscal perspective.
  • For every conference we invite two government officials from various departments to attend at no cost.
  • We offer discount to NGO’s and educational institutes, make it feasible for them to attend our conferences.
  • We also provide training for HDI’s individuals with no prior working experience.
  • Annually TCI endeavours to aid organisations or individuals in need for support.

BEE COMPLIANCE

TCI has been existence for over 4 years now with an ever expanding staff compliment of over 60 employees to date. With an increasing need to address broad based equity within the company, TCI has now officially become a BEE aligned entity. This stems from our Employment equity policy which concentrates on equal employment and promotional opportunities for all individuals.

TCI’s BEE strategy consists of 25.1% of TCI shares owned by the Zakeni (Let’s build together) Trust, composed of all BEE employees, bearing in mind that 83% of all employees fall into this category. Therefore in terms of the definition of broad based equity, the majority of employees are now empowered. It is also envisaged that in the near future a third BEE prospective partner will be sought thus making TCI a completely BEE aligned entity.

This BEE compliance forms part of TCI’s goals set at the onset of the company in January of 2002. Not only has the undertaking of a BEE alignment benefited the employees but it has also served to communicate TCI’s commitment to government’s empowerment strategies aimed at uplifting historically disadvantaged individuals.

TCI’s BEE policies are not intended to disadvantage employees that do not fall into the scope of BEE as TCI will always remain an equal opportunity employer.

With government requiring the services of BEE aligned organisations, TCI hopes to make a valuable contribution towards the education of government officials through our conferences, skills programmes and events.
